Work has begun on the £2m refurbishment of a landmark office building at 54 Hagley Road in Edgbaston, Birmingham by Aberdeen Standard Investments.

The outdated building contains a 16-storey east wing and an eight-floor west wing, of which five floors are being modernised.

The refurbishment makes up part of Aberdeen Standard Investments continued investment strategy.

Plans are for a full ground floor refurbishment by contractor Morgan Lovell and will include a new reception, three new meeting rooms, café, fitness studio, conference facility, locker and shower facilities.

The works, which are expected to be finished by November also include office refurbishments with new suites for attendees of up to 200 people, expected to be available over the summer.

Cameron Mackay, senior asset manager at Aberdeen Standard Investments, said that with the refurbishment, it aimed to provide companies with a great place to work.

“54 Hagley Rd will provide cost-effective, great quality accommodation.

“With Edgbaston becoming ever more popular as a place to do business, socialise and live, the investment commitment to improving this premium office building will undoubtedly pay dividends.

“The works will also complete in advance of the new metro works, which will provide a stop right outside the building, adding to its great connectivity.”
